Who this work is for

The same patterns show up in relationships of every kind, whether you have been married twenty years or your relationship does not fit a template.

The same fight, for years

The topic changes, the argument doesn't. The problem is the cycle underneath it, feeling unseen or unsafe, and that cycle is what gets treated.

In the middle of a transition

Moves, career changes, parenthood, loss, a coming out, or a dynamic that is evolving faster than the relationship can absorb.

Deciding whether to stay

Some couples arrive seriously considering separation. The work is getting you both to clarity, whichever direction that turns out to be.

“The argument is rarely about what it looks like on the surface.”

Amanda Jablon, LCSW, therapist in Southern California

Meet Amanda Jablon, LCSW

Amanda is a therapist based in Southern California with more than ten years in private practice. She holds an MSW from USC and draws from Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method in her work.

Couples work is emotionally focused and Gottman-informed: slowing the interaction down until you can both see the cycle, making sure each partner actually feels heard, and getting to the need underneath the conflict. The goal is not eliminating disagreement. It is breaking the loop that turns disagreement into distance.

Sessions run 50 minutes by secure video, available to adults anywhere in California. Half-day and full-day relationship intensives are available for bigger repairs and major decisions.

How the work happens

Disagreement is not the problem. The approach is built from evidence-based models for changing the cycle underneath it.

IFS

Internal Family Systems

The part of you that escalates and the part that shuts down both make sense. Parts work helps each partner recognize theirs.

EFT

Emotionally Focused Therapy

Attachment-based work for the moments that keep repeating: the same fight, the same shutdown, the same distance afterward.

GM

Gottman Method

Practical, research-backed tools for communication, repair, and staying connected through conflict.

Common questions

Do you take insurance?

No. The practice is private pay at $325 per couples session, with superbills provided on request. Depending on your plan, out-of-network benefits may reimburse part of the fee.

Can we join the video session from different locations?

Yes. Partners regularly join from separate places, and it works, as long as everyone is in California.

What if one of us is skeptical about couples therapy?

Common, and workable. The free 15-minute consultation includes both partners, video or phone, so the skeptical one can ask their questions directly before anyone commits to anything.

How often are sessions?

Weekly, especially at the start. For bigger repairs and major decisions, half-day and full-day relationship intensives are available.

What happens on the free 15-minute consultation?

Both partners join by video, or by phone if you prefer. You share what is bringing you in, Amanda explains how she works, and you decide together whether it makes sense to schedule a first session. No charge and no obligation.

The fight is never the fight.

Request your free 15-minute consultation, both of you, by video or phone, and Amanda will reach out to schedule a time that works.
